\"\"<\/a>2020, as difficult as it was, will have been a productive year for the Drouin Institute, with the continuation of our efforts to digitize, index and democratize historical and genealogical data in Quebec and beyond. Over the past 12 months, more than\u00a0500,000<\/strong>\u00a0new files and images were made available on\u00a0Genealogy Quebec<\/a>. Here is an overview of these additions.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0LAFRANCE<\/em><\/h1>\n

Last year, we completed the addition to the\u00a0LAFRANCE\u00a0<\/em>of all of Quebec’s Catholic baptisms and burials up to 1861. Our focus this year shifted to Ontario and Acadia, as well as the Protestant baptisms and burials of Quebec.
\nIn addition, our indexing efforts included parish records pertaining to Indigenous peoples of Quebec, a particularly complex task given the variety of surnames used in these records.<\/p>\n

Connolly File<\/h1>\n

<\/b>63,356\u00a0<\/strong>baptisms<\/span>, 51,900\u00a0<\/strong>marriages and\u00a0<\/span>32,418\u00a0<\/strong>burials<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>were added to the\u00a0<\/span>Connolly File<\/em>\u00a0in 2020, bringing the total number of records in the collection to over\u00a0<\/span>6.7 million<\/strong>.<\/span>

The\u00a0Connolly File<\/em>\u00a0is an index of Catholic and Protestant baptisms, marriages and burials from Quebec and part of the United States covering a period extending from 1621 to 2019.<\/p>\n
