Heddinger, Rena Marie June 15, 1942 - Bassano, Alberta March 16, 2018 - Calgary, Alberta Rena, loving wife, mother and grandmother of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 16, 2018, at the age of 75 years. After moving to Big Valley at the age of five with her parents, Rena grew up as a real 'farm girl' until 1956, when the family moved to Calgary. She met the love of her life, Gerry, in 1961 and they were married in October 1962. Their family quickly grew with the birth of two sons, David and Wayne. Rena invested much of her life into her family, and as such, her family is a reflection of the woman she was: strong, kind, funny, and unwaveringly loving. She had the biggest heart, the strongest hugs, the most infectious laugh, and the absolute best cherry loaf recipe. While Rena will be greatly missed, she will also be remembered often and fondly by the family she loved so well. Rena is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Gerry; her two sons and daughter-in-law, David, Wayne and Lisa; and two grandsons, Ryan and Matthew; her sister and brother-in-law Brenda and Rob Sevick and their children, Johnathan, Laura, and Kristen; and also by her three sisters-in-law, Carol Thompson (daughters, Heather and Karina); Joanne (Bob) Phillips (daughters, Yvonne and Carla); Beverly Sinclair. Rena was predeceased by her father Andy in 1962; her mother and father-in-law Kay and Henry Heddinger; and most recently, by her mother Kay Beringer in December 2017. Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S. W. Calgary, AB) on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to a charity of your choice. The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of Unit 36 at FMC, as well as the ICU staff at FMC, and in particular, Dr. Godinez. In living memory of Rena Heddinger, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
