Carew, Fiona Grace Harriet January 11, 1936 - March 15, 2018 It is with deep sadness that our family informs you of the death of Fiona Scottie Carew at the age of 82, wife of Bruce Carew and mother of two sons Bruce (Sakine), Bill (Cathy); grandchildren Sherry Lynn, Matthew (Sarah Gysler), Adel (Jennifer) Trevor (Kelcie Falkner), Jaxon and Vinessa; great-grandchildren Grace, Marcus, Avery; her nieces and nephews Maureen (Wayne) Wakeford, Bernadette Peanut Gilhooly, Ian Gilhooly, Morag (Steve) Kosten, Michael (Stephanie) Gilhooly, her great-nieces and nephews Jennifer and Alanna Wakeford, Austin, Devin, Keira and Grace Gilhooly. Fiona was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1954 with her sister Aileen by ocean liner, joining their older sister Stroma in Calgary. After meeting Bruce, they move to Peterborough, Ontario until 1961 returning to Calgary where Fiona worked as a bookkeeper for the next 45 years. Some of Fiona's passions were dancing, bowling, darts, playing crib and visiting Las Vegas. In the last few years Fiona enjoyed tutoring groups of new Canadian's children with their schooling. She was predeceased by her husband Bruce, her parents Edward and Minnie Nichol as well as her sisters, Patricia Eckersley, Stroma Nichol, and Aileen Gilhooly, and brother-in-law John Gilhooly. She was deeply loved, enriched all our lives and will be so sorely missed. Our family would like to extend our appreciation for the compassionate care Fiona received from Dr. Au Coin and the nurses and staff of the Chartwell Eau Claire Care Residence. A Celebration of Fiona's Life will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home, (Prairie View Chapel, 1605 - 100 Street SE, Calgary) on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with viewing prior to the Celebration starting at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
