Koehler, Bernhard Hermann April 24, 1933 - Ziegenrueck, Germany December 29, 2018 - Calgary, Alberta Bernhard Hermann Koehler, beloved husband of Ursula Maria Edith Koehler (nee Meinokat) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the age of 85 years. Bernhard was born April 24, 1933 in Ziegenrueck, Thuringen, Germany to Otto and Aenne Kohler. After escaping from East Germany in 1951, Bernhard met his wife Ursula and they married in 1956. Their first daughter, Ingrid, was born in 1958 and he immigrated to Canada with his family in 1960. In 1962 his daughter Barbara was born in Toronto, and after moving across the country to Calgary, his family was completed with the birth of Catherine in 1964. Bernhard's first priority was always his family, and he worked tirelessly to ensure their well-being. His preciseness, determination, desire for knowledge, and his many skills have been passed onto his daughters and shaped their lives. Bernhard is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ursula; two daughters, Barbara Campbell and Catherine (Paul) Koehler-Aigner; son-in-law Don Schmidt; two grandchildren, Darick (Lianne) and Jayla (Ian); two great-grandchildren Kinsley and Kohler; and a large extended family in Germany. Bernhard was predeceased by his daughter Ingrid Schmidt. Funeral Services will be held at McInnis and Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow at the Funeral Home.
