Walasko, Florence Lillian November 14, 1933 - Calgary, Alberta June 4, 2019 - Calgary, Alberta Florence Lillian (nee Laidlaw) Walasko was born November 14, 1933 in Calgary, Alberta and died peacefully on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 85 years and 8 months. Florence will be lovingly remembered by her husband, James of fifty-two years; by her son John David; her daughter Barbara Jean Walasko and spouse Keith Ryan; her grandchildren, Millicent Harper Ryan and Chapman John James Ryan. She was very proud of her family. Florence is also survived by her brother Robert William Alexander Laidlaw and his wife Esther Elouise and their children, Beverlee Jean, Robert William II, and Margaret Anne; her brother-in-law Ronald William Oughton and his daughter Linda Jane Oughton; her sisters-in-law, Patricia Laura Walasko and her children, Cheryl Janice and Ronald William; Irene Bell and her late husband William Alexander Bell and their children James William and Allison (nee Bell) Kim; Jean Ann Walasko. Florence was predeceased by her father Alexander Grant Laidlaw and her mother Lillian Jean Blow; her sisters, Betty Lou Laidlaw, Patricia Jean Oughton, and Pat's children David and Robert John. Florence was a life-long resident of Calgary. She attended King Edward Elementary School, South Calgary United Church and Western Canada High School. She was a 1955 graduate of School of Nursing at University of Alberta in Edmonton where she met many of her dearest and treasured lifelong friends. Florence finalized her nursing career employed at the Calgary Holy Cross Pediatric ward followed by a term in a private medical office. Florence was an avid reader who enjoyed cooking, entertaining, playing bridge and travelling. Florence's reasoned and unbiased council to family, her gracious and patient manner and loving lifetime encounters to family members will be remembered. She will be sadly missed, but her example for life will remain dear to the hearts and minds of family and to those whose lives she touched. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
