Rast, Leo - June 8, 1933 - January 2, 2018 Leo Rast passed to his eternal rest on January 2, 2018 at Foothills Hospital, with his beloved wife, Wilma by his side. He was loved dearly by his surviving family: daughter Leona Rast Krone; son Erwin Rast and wife Sheila; and daughter Helen Berezowski and husband Les. He will also be missed by his five grandchildren David Krone, Tyson Rast, Braden Rast, Michaela and Simon Berezowski. Born in Poland, Leo emigrated from Germany to Canada at the age of 17. He worked the sugar beet farms and coal mines in Alberta and retired in 1998 from the City of Calgary as an auto-body mechanic. For many years he sang for the Calgary Protestant Male Choir and was a faithful member of his church. Leo celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage to his beloved wife Wilma and enjoyed the love and laughter of his family, often playing his mandolin, and winning at tri-ominos. Thanks to the fantastic staff at the Foothills Cardiac Unit, Leo had excellent care in his final days. Memorial Donations can be made to Leo's favourite charity: Home of the Good Shepherd http://www.hgsbrazil.org/ Home of the Good Shepherd is a Christian based home for neglected children in southern Brazil. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation at Mountain View Funeral Home, (Prairie View Chapel, 1605 - 100 Street SE, Calgary) on Sunday, January 7, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
