McLeod, Kathy - May 1, 1957 - September 6, 2017 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. With family at her side, she passed peacefully away after a courageous battle with cancer. Kathy will be dearly missed by her husband of 40 years, the love of her life and soul-mate, Doug. She will be forever remembered and loved by her adored children: son Duncan (Leanne) and daughter Ashley. Kathy's precious granddaughters, Kinley and Avery will miss their Nana dearly but will always cherish their special time together. Sharing their grief is her brother Joe (Joan) Barczai. Kathy will be dearly missed by her nieces Stacey (Rob), Amanda (Owen) and nephew Nick, and many great nephews and niece. Also, grieving is Doug's sister Andrea Lyle and nephew David Lyle. Kathy will be remembered for her devoted and deep love for her family and friends. She had a heart of gold, approached everyone with care and empathy and always brought her bright smile into a room. Her happiest moments were spent with her immediate family, especially sleep-overs with her granddaughters. She loved everything about Christmas, especially decorating, baking, buying and giving presents to the ones she loved. Kathy was the glue that brought together her family, friends and coworkers. We, Kathy's family will never forget the times Mom spent supporting us throughout our many extra-curricular activities. Watching us grow and discover new things was a source of pride and happiness no matter what we did. We are forever blessed and grateful to have her in our lives. We would like to acknowledge the dedication and kindness of the doctors, nursing team and support staff of the Cross Cancer Institute. Cremation has taken place, and a private celebration of life was held. In lieu of floral tributes, and in honour of Kathy, donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue, Edmonton, AB T6G 1Z2 or charity of your choice.
