Mildred Jean Conklin (Baxter) May 17, 1928-March 10, 2018 With broken hearts we sadly announce the passing of our beautiful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, grimmie, gg, grams, auntie and friend. Mom passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Rotary Hospice House. Millie loved and lived for her children and is survived by Daughter - Carole, Corey, Kim (Rory) Steven, Justin; Son - Barry (Joanne) of Nelson, Jason, Angie, Stuie, Teagan, Kimberley; Daughter - Holly (Ken) of Ladysmith, Shayne; Daughter - Judy (Wayne), Stacie (Ken) Kassidy, Shelly (Steve), Aiden, Kayla; Son - Tim (Brenda) of Cold Lake, Emily, Ben (Laura), Sarah (Alan). Predeceased by her husband Leo; her parents Joseph and Clara Baxter; two brothers Lance and Roy, two sisters, Doreen (Fred) and Shirley (Ed) and her great granddaughter Alexis. Millie loved working at the candy counter at Kresge's for many years. She worked and retired at Red Rock Nursery and loved working there. She made lots of good friends while working there. Mom loved flowers of any kind, any color, silk or real BUT her absolute favourite flower was the pansy. Millie was a member of the Order of The Eastern Star for 39 1/2 years, was Worthy Matron in 1986 - 1987 and had the honour and privilege of being Grand Officer in 2000 - 2001, She was also a member of the Hospital Auxiliary for 28 years doing voluntary work in flower arranging and tray favours, helped with Festival of Trees etc. She was an honorary member at the ECRA centre and loved being part of the drama club there where she had quite a time acting as the bag lady. Lots of laughs. Mom loved the cabin at the lake and looked forward to our trips out there spending lots of time fishing and enjoyed listening to the loons on the lake. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 2:00pm at (ECRA) Elders Citizens Recreation Association on 10th Avenue. Pastor Wayne Morgan officiating. Mom loved life, yellow and bright colors, glitter, sparkles and all things bling. Please wear colourful clothing to the celebration to help celebrate her love of life. The family would like to thank Doctor Zhang and the staff at the Rotary Hospice House for their kind and wonderful care of our mother. The Hospice House is an amazing place. For those who would like to donate in Millie's memory donations to ECRA or the Rotary Hospice House will very much be appreciated (There will be envelopes at the Celebration as well).
