Siv Linnea Heinonen (nee Jansson) was born November 1, 1935 in Ange, Sweden. She came to Canada with her family in 1951 and soon after began working at the Leckie Shoe Factory along with helping to take care of her younger siblings Gus, Reidar, and Ingrid. A couple years later she met her future husband Alf Heinonen in Vancouver, and on December 28, 1956 they were married. Siv then worked at Woodward's Oakridge until 1964, when twin boys, Dennis and Derrick, were born. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, she enjoyed baking, crocheting, reading, travelling, and looking after her plants and flowers. She was an active member in the Ladies Auxiliary at the Swedish-Canadian Rest Home Association. Siv spent many years compassionately caring for her family members in their time of need; beginning with her father, Adolf, husband, Alf, mother, Anna, and brother, Lars. In 1996, Siv was overjoyed to become a grandmother (Farmor) with the arrival of granddaughter Katrina. Siv always put the needs of others before her own, without ever expecting anything in return. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend, with an unwavering loyalty and kind personality. Siv passed away March 12, 2018 in Burnaby, BC and will be deeply missed. There will be no service, as per Siv's request. Donations to your favourite charity are encouraged in lieu of flowers.
