Karlicki, Walter We are mourning the loss of our father Walter Karlicki, who passed on March 8, 2018. Walter was born November 4, 1932 to Ukrainian and Polish immigrant parents and was the middle son of 5 children. Walter was a kind, warm fair person with fierce determination, independence and an easygoing nature. Walter was predeceased by his parents John and Barbara, brother Steve, sister Oly and his spouse Renata. He is survived by his daughters Camille (Dana), Jackie (Brad), and Alexa (David), grandchildren Keah, Umara, Jackson and Cuba, brother Bill, sister Tilly, nephews, nieces and cousins. Walter attended the University of Manitoba where he earned a BA and then a Law Degree in 1959. He then started his law practice in Selkirk, MB with his partner, Judge Wally Darichuk. Prior to his retirement, he worked for the Law Society of MB for 16 years, and then retired to Victoria in 1992. Walter founded the Stroke Recovery Club of MB in 1971 where he was the inspiration for at least 150 additional stroke clubs in Canada. He was past president for 2 years of the Stroke Recovery Club in Victoria and received The Phyllis Delaney Life after Stroke Award for Outstanding Achievement in October 2005. In his spare time, Walter loved to play crib, travel, was an avid reader of biographies, and loved to take daily outings on his scooter to favorite spots like Starbucks on Cook Street and London Drugs. He was an amazing father, brother, son and friend to so many. We will dearly miss the sparkle in Walter's eyes and his loving smile. A memorial service will be held on April 20, 2018 at 2:00 pm at McCall's, Royal Oak Location.
