George Kroeker died peacefully on March 13, 2018 at the age of 92. He was predeceased by his wife Rena (Renata), parents Peter and Katherine, brothers Jacob, Abram (Abe), Henry and David, stepbrothers Peter and John (Mariechen) in Russia, and sisters Annie and Katie. He leaves to mourn Ken, Harold (Linda) and Philip (Sheila), grandchildren Evan and Kathryn, Murray (Janine), grandchildren Colson and Logan, brother Bill (Anne), sisters-in-law Irene Kroeker and Clara Dyck, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. George was born in Gnadenfeld, Russia in 1925, immigrated with his family as an infant, and was raised on a farm near Whitewater, MB. He became a church member at an early age. After receiving his early education at Boissevain Collegiate, he earned several degrees at the University of Manitoba. He began teaching on a permit at age 17. During his career, he held a number of administrative positions. He married Renata (Rena) Dyck on August 27, 1952 at her home church near Laird, SK. He retired at age 60 and later spent two years teaching in China. In 1990, George experienced several strokes and heart surgery. After recovery, he and Rena travelled much. They enjoyed life. George was active in church-related work for many years. Funeral service will be on Monday, March 19, 11:00 a.m., at Bethel Mennonite Church, 465 Stafford.
