William Overton Steele September 19, 1952 - June 17, 2019 Steele, William Overton Sept. 19, 1952 - June 17, 2019 Bill passed peacefully away at home after a lengthy illness. Bill is predeceased by his parents: Wilbert (Doc) & Myrtle Steele, mother-in-law: Mary Melamed, siblings: Ruby Tizzard (George, deceased), Ruth Cook, and Doug Steele, sister-in-law Bernice, best friend & brother-in-law Gar Dale, nephews: Douglas Steele & Chris Dooley. Bill leaves to mourn his loving wife Gwen, children: Stephen (Janine) Michael (Melonee), Kelly (Chad Birmingham), Paulette Bown who Bill thought of as a daughter. Grandchildren: Evan, Ryan, Kate and David who he loved and adored, sisters: Kay Parsons (Gil) of Dartmouth, Marge Motter (Jerry, deceased) of Ohio, Sandra Dale (Gar, deceased) of St. John's, Glenda McKinney (Terry, deceased) of Kelowna BC. In laws Paula & Gerry Dooley, Brenda & Curt Wilson, Irwin & Gail Melamed, Stephen & Faye Melamed, Ron Cook & (Ruth, deceased), many nieces and nephews, special friends Len & Mary Wickens and extra special friend Chris Dale who he spent hours on the phone updating Bill on 'all the shop talk' when he was too ill to get around. Bill would also like to thank Dr. George Fox, Dr. Parsons, The Palliative Care Program, UA Plumbers and Pipefitters, local 740 as a 44 year member. Visitation to take place at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, St. John's, on Wednesday June 19th and Thursday, June 20th from 1-3 pm and 6-9 pm. A funeral service will take place on Friday, June 21st at 11:00am at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Goulds. Flowers are graciously accepted, or a donation can be made in his memory to the Palliative Care Program or the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Association.
