Lortie, Mary Elizabeth (Patriquin), 75, Great Village, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2017 at home, after a battle with lung cancer. Born in Truro, April 10, 1943, she was a daughter of the late George Arthur and Elizabeth (Blaikie) Patriquin. After attending Business College and Beauty School, Mary found her passion in making people look good in the beauty industry. Being an owner of her hair salon in Debert for over two decades, she enjoyed a social act of life making others look good. Mary loved to dance and mentor younger upcoming stylist. She was eager and devoted to her work. Passion and creativity flourished when she was doing hair. Very much of a people person, she attracted people that loved her. Mary will be loved and missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her only daughter Cheryl Weiss (Snyder), and her husband Robert Weiss and their son Sean Weiss and Cheryl's father Meryl Snyder of Debert. She was predeceased by brothers, Ross and Tommy Patriquin who were both born, raised and lived in Great Village. No visitation or funeral service by Mary's request. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mattatall-Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Donations in memory may be made to the Colchester SPCA as Mary loved animals.
