Rudolf Karl Mikowetz, of Brantford, ON was peacefully taken home to be with his Saviour Jesus on Thursday, February 22, 2018. Rudy, son of the late Franz and Augusta Mikowetz, was born in Rudig, Czechoslovakia on May 30, 1922. He is survived by his wife Bonnie Erickson, residing in Galax, VA. Cherished father of only daughter Lisa Zanetti (Fabio) and treasured grandfather of Katrina Rollins (Andy), Julia and Sofia. He will be greatly missed by his dear sister Sylvia Baenziger, former wife and friend Terese Mikowetz (mother of Lisa), niece Christa Cameron (Jim), nephew Norman Kruse (Kim) and his great-nephews and nieces. He also leaves many friends in Brantford, Ottawa and Virginia. Predeceased by his former wife the late Grace Lam. After immigrating to Canada in 1952, Rudy spent many years as a successful businessman and as an entrepreneur. He partnered in establishing the Sportheque de Hull, a thriving sports facility to this day. He was a gifted athlete excelling at every sport he tried. Upon his return to Canada from Virginia in 2010, Rudy courageously dealt with Parkinson's disease, always exhibiting a positive attitude. Many thanks to Dr. J Hsiao and the devoted staff at Tranquility Place Retirement Home and John Noble Home for their kindness and excellent care. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the Toll Funeral Home, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford from 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Rudy's life will be held in the chapel on Monday at 11:30 a.m. Memorial donations to the Parkinson's Society in Rudy's memory appreciated. www.tollfh.ca The Brantford Expositor, ON, 2018-02-24
