Hooper, Yvonne (nee Cavanagh) Passed away peacefully January 7, 2018 at the Perley & Rideau in her 98th year and her 75th year of marriage to her loving husband Lorne. Born in Carp, Ontario on December 22, to loving parents Austin and Barbara; predeceased by her infant son Lorne Aynsley, brothers Bill, Neil, James, Aynsley and sister Joy. Yvonne spent a lifetime caring for the people she loved, including her daughter Linda, her son-in-law John Fraser, her grandchildren Kïrsten Starr (Danny), John (Alina), James (Sarah) and the three apples of her eye, her great-grandchildren, Vaughan, Sloane and Fraser. Yvonne grew up in Westboro, where she attended Nepean High School and sang in the church choir at All Saints Anglican. In 1941, Tootie met the love of her life, Hoop, and they began their journey together. They built their home in Alta Vista and, in addition to being a mother and homemaker; Yvonne took on the role of beloved secretary of Bayview Public School. For 20 years she received as much warmth and love as she gave to the many children who visited her office. Always selfless, Yvonne had boundless energy and a quick wit. Her devotion to her family and her compassion and kindness toward those around her were truly without limits. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews, especially her Heather; and by the many friends she made along the way, including those from Red Pine Camp, St. Thomas the Apostle Church as well the Fraser, Oakes, Schultz and Botham families. Special thanks to Claire Laroche, Pat and Olaf Skjenna and to the caring team and to the friends of Ottawa 2 West for making Yvonne's final journey one of comfort and peace. Friends are invited to visit at the Lupton Hall of the Perley & Rideau Veterans' Health Centre, 1750 Russell Road and on Friday, January 12, from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 13, at 10 a.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Perley and Rideau Veterans Foundation and/or the Ottawa Humane Society would be appreciated.
