Barbara Bacciaglia, 97 years, who passed away Tuesday, January 29th, 2019 at Extendicare York, Sudbury. She was born in Fano, Italy to Alessandro Cinotti and Adele Alessandrini, both predeceased. Beloved wife of Fernando Bacciaglia (predeceased 2016). Cherished 'mamma' of Fernanda (husband Ugo Battocchio). Dearest 'nonna' of Rita Filbey (Brad) and Lorena Levert (Greg). She was very proud to be the 'bisnonna' of Massimiliano, Luca, Rocco, and Gemma Filbey and Fernando and Alessia Levert. Hannah and Daniel Filbey were also close to her heart. Barbara's sister Maria is predeceased as are her sister-in-law Livia Bacciaglia and her brothers-in-law Savio and Edo Bacciaglia. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews and their families in Italy and cousins-in-law in Sudbury, Petawawa, and Montreal. Barbara came to Canada with her husband and daughter in 1952. Her life was dedicated to her family. She was a superb cook and a gifted seamstress. She spent many years working at the Caruso Club, Steelworkers Hall, and various cleaning jobs. Barbara was a member of the CWL at St. Clement's Parish and Our Lady of Hope Parish. She was also a member of the Caruso Club Ladies Auxiliary and the Associazione Regionale Marchegiana of Sudbury. Her life was an example of hard work, sacrifice, and a strong faith in the Lord and the Blessed Virgin Mary. The rosary was her favourite form of prayer. Special thanks to the Extendicare York 6th Floor staff for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Arthritis Society or the Blue Door Soup Kitchen would be appreciated. Resting at the Lougheed Funeral Home, 252 Regent Street at Hazel Street Sudbury. Friends may call 4-7 pm Friday, with parish prayers at 4:30 pm Friday.
