Logins, Irena Passed away peacefully in her 91st year on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at her family's home in Markham. A refugee from Latvia during WWII, she fled to Germany with her husband Vladislavs (predeceased). Her family was sponsored by the McCulloughs who brought the family to Terre Haute, Indiana where Irena continued to help in sponsorship of Latvian refugees. After settling in Indianapolis, Irena was determined to further her education by taking night courses to eventually receive her high school diploma and then continuing at Butler University while working full time and overtime to support her family. Irena's diligent work as an Accountant at RCA continued even after moving to Canada to join her second husband Bruno (predeceased). When retired, her focus and dedication shifted to volunteer work at Kristus Darzs Latvian Home in Vaughan, ON. Irena's hardworking nature, strength and perseverance will forever be remembered, as will her love and connection to her homeland Latvia. She is survived by her daughter Silvija, her son Viktors and her beloved grandchildren in Canada and the USA. In Latvia, she leaves her sisters Felicita, Lucija and Lidija and extended family. Friends and family are welcome to gather on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at York Cemetery and Funeral Centre, 160 Beecroft Road, North York (Yonge and 401) for a visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Funeral service at 2 o'clock.
