Vivian Eileen Steinman, 92, of Woodstock passed away peacefully in the Caressant Nursing Home, Woodstock on Sunday, December 30, 2018. She was born in Tavistock on April 19, 1926, a daughter of the late Christian L. and Annie (Brenneman) Ruby. She was a Food Supervisor at Nithview Home in New Hamburg for seventeen years; was a member of Cassel Mennonite Church. She married Wilfred Steinman on January 4, 1947 and together they farmed in East Zorra Township until moving to Woodstock in 2007. Wilfred died on September 21, 2009. Vivian is survived by two daughters, Janice and husband John Beecraft; Ruth Zapfe and Dan Major, all of Woodstock; three grandchildren, Christine & husband Steven Salomon, Susan Rae & Jason Kew and Shaun Storey; five great grandchildren, Dion, Maya and Katie Salomon, Finlay and Ella Rae; her sister, Jean Roth; her sisters-in-law, Margaret Ruby, Beulah Ruby, Marnie Steinman and Audrey Steinman. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Glen Zapfe; brothers, Roy Ruby and Henry Ruby; brother-in-law, Wilfred Roth; Steinman brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Neil and Esther Steinman, Gordon Steinman, Floyd and Catherine Steinman; several nieces, nephews and their families. Relatives and friends will be received in the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock on Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 2 - 4 p.m. The funeral service will be held in Cassel Mennonite Church, 17th line at Cassel Sideroad, on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 2 p.m. Pastor Wanda Roth Amstutz will officiate. Reception following. Interment in East Zorra 17th Line E. U. B. Cemetery at a later date.
