Darith Andrew Donald 'Don Hewitt 1947-2018 Darith Andrew Donald 'Don' Hewitt, at his residence in St. Peters Harbour, and in accordance with his wishes, passed from us to his next adventure on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. At his side were his loving wife and co-conspirator, Tarry and precious son Sam (Charlottetown). Don is also survived by his eldest son Scott (Colette) of Wasaga Beach and adored grandchildren, Cole and Sierra. He leaves his special nephew, Jeff (Christine) of Calgary, together with grand nieces, Evelyn and Hazel. Don was predeceased by parents, Winnifred and Ron and stepfather, Bill Rodger. Don was born in Calgary and with his military family, lived in many parts of Canada and Germany. After serving with the Military police for 5 years, he joined the Ontario Provincial Police, spending most of his career in Northwestern Ontario, primarily with responsibility for First Nations. In these remote communities, he forged many long-lasting relationships. Don retired at the rank of sergeant from the O. P. P. and went on to perform consulting services in the areas of security, justice and policing for First Nations and PTO's. In 1997, Don and Tarry, together with son Sam lived out their dream to move to Costa Rica. They stayed a year, returning to Canada and putting down roots on Prince Edward Island, a place neither had ever visited. Don loved the outdoors, good food, good times and the company of good friends. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the following for their compassionate and competent care since Don's cancer diagnosis in 2016: The PEI Cancer Treatment Centre staff, Home Care and the Palliative Care Team, Drs. Magennis, Miller and Campbell. Resting at the Belvedere Funeral Home with visitation on Friday, November 30 from 2-4 pm.
