Fraser, Stephen Murray It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen Murray Fraser on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at the age of 53. He was predeceased by his parents, Margaret and Jack; brother Thomas; and niece Megan. Stephen is survived by his sister-in-law Karen; brothers Michael (Betty Makelki), and James (Wanda); nieces and nephews Andrew, Mary (Chad Salewich), Heather (Andrew) Haugen, John, Kyla (Andre Longtin), and Matthew; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends. Stephen was born in Regina on May 22, 1964, the youngest of four boys. He was born with special needs and was lovingly cared for at home, attending Jean Vanier and Harrow Degroot Schools. Stephen was fortunate to become a resident of Kramer Home, a group residence founded and operated by the remarkable Sister Marian McGuigan. Here Stephen made many friends and participated in group outings and activities. Stephen was an employee of the Cosmo Centre for more than 20 years where he expanded his wide group of friends and co-workers. Stephen and his mother were dedicated parishioners of Holy Rosary Cathedral, where he was known for his enthusiastic handshakes and hymn singing. He loved family gatherings and was an eager dance partner at weddings and reunions. Stephen enjoyed bowling, and achieved a Gold Medal in that event at the Canadian Special Olympics. He was an avid fan of all superheroes, gaining an impressive collection of posters, action figures, and t-shirts. Stephen's health declined in recent years and he became a long-term resident of Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, where he quickly gained the hearts of his new community. Stephen's final years were difficult as his condition worsened but he continued to display his own super powers as he fought through many setbacks. He was our Superman. Stephen will long be remembered for his loving nature, affection, and happy outlook. He was a friend to everyone he met. Special thanks for the care and compassion shown by all of the staff at Wascana Rehabilitation Hospital. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Cathedral, 2104 Garnet Street, Regina, SK on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Reception will be held in the lower level immediately following the Mass. Interment will follow at the Broderick Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. Those so wishing may make memorial donations in Stephen's name to Clare Parker Homes, 2206 Dewdney Street, Regina, SK, S4R 1H3, The Hospitals of Regina Foundation, 1874 Scarth Street, Regina, SK, S4P 4B3 or Cosmopolitan Learning Centre, 810 Edgar Street, Regina, SK, S4N 3H9.
