Engel, Alice Brigitta Elvira Alice passed away peacefully on Monday April 1, 2019 in Regina. She was born on the family farm in the Kennell District on June 30, 1928. She was predeceased by her mother Annie and father Christian; sisters Anna Brandt, Adeline Wagner, Hildegarde Wagner and Martha Youck; brothers Jake, Henry, Gerhardt, Ewald and Bill Wagner. Alice is survived by her children Pauline (Brian) Renas, Alex Engel and James (Karen) Engel; five granddaughters Bree-Anne (John), Alison (Wade), Kyrstin, Lily (Dylan) and Sophie (Ryder); great-granddaughter Hannah; sister-in-law Adele Wagner; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Alice went to Valley Brook School until grade eight. She took grade nine and ten by correspondence. She played in her brother Bill's orchestra from 17 years old until she left the farm and moved to Regina in 1953. She worked at Wilners drug store until she married in 1954, then worked at Simpsons until Pauline came along, followed by Alex and James. Alice was a stay-at-home mom until James turned five and then she worked at hospital laundry service for six months, followed by Sears for 16 years. When she retired she volunteered at church and the apartment building she lived in. Alice enjoyed her children and grandchildren, her hobby was baking for family and friends. A Funeral Service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 1037 Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, April 5, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Alice may be made to Diabetes Canada, 919B Albert Street, Regina, SK S4R 2P6 or to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 1738 Quebec Avenue Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9.
