Magnus, Esther Sophie Louise October 3, 1935 - October 2, 2018 Esther Sophie Louise Magnus of Saskatoon, SK slipped peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, at 4:00 a.m. on October 2, 2018, with her sister by her side, at the Circle Drive Special Care Home. Esther was born on October 3, 1935 to Lina and William Magnus, at the Kerrobert Hospital. This year she is celebrating her birthday in Heaven! She was raised on the farm just north of Luseland, SK. She had six younger siblings so she had to work hard. She attended Niagara School and then Luseland High School. Later she went to Bible School, Teacher's College and University of Saskatchewan. She received her Bachelor of Education and then earned her Master's degree while she was teaching. Esther was an excellent teacher; teaching many students how to read in Grades 1 and 2. She taught in Springfield School near Waldheim, Lloydminster, Moose Jaw, Caronport, and Saskatoon (Howard Coad, Confederation Park, and Carolyn Robbins School). At the end of her career, she was a counsellor at Pleasant Hill School. After retirement, she worked with many international students from all over the world, Europe, China, Mongolia, and Iran. Her students loved her. Esther was their Canadian Mom. Esther was a wonderful cook and hosted many dinner parties. She was energetic and loved people. She was also very fashionable and loved shopping. Esther lived a very rich and successful life with a strong faith in God. Because of her illness; Esther spent the last few years in Sunnyside and then at Circle Drive Special Care Home. Thank you so much to everyone who cared for her with love and kindness. Now she is free from all suffering and pain. Esther was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Lina Magnus, 2 brothers, Dan and Joe Magnus, a sister-in-law Marg Magnus, and a brother-in-law Eric Champ. She leaves to mourn two brothers, Paul (Jane) Magnus and Sam (Connie) Magnus and two sisters Eileen and Betty. She will be also be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Viewing will be at Dalmeny Funeral Home, 139 3rd Street, Dalmeny, SK on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. Celebration of Esther's Life will be held at Forest Grove Community Church, 502 Webster Street, Saskatoon, SK on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with family interment to follow at Luseland Cemetery at 4:30 p.m. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Dalmeny Funeral Home (306-254-2022).
