I have had much luck in tracing my Quebecois ancestry, but am stumped by my great grandmother's first name --- Ozine. She was born in Cadillac, MI, but her parents Josephe Theberge and Emilie Couture moved there from Quebec City (Sillery, I believe) in the early 1890s. I have a death certificate that gives my great grandmother's name as Ozine Marie (Theberge) Sprock. Her many siblings had perfectly normal French first names --- Adeline, Louis, Josephine ... I can find other women with the name Ozine (and variations) by searching Drouin, but I can't find the meaning.
Has anyone come across this name, either as a first name or surname?
Thanks,
Kerri
