My 5th GG Jean Louis Regeas Laprade has a 38 year gap I am trying to solve. I have his baptism at Lanoraie in 1741, and then marriage contract & marriage church record from Bertierville in 1779. And then of course, children's baptisms in 1780, 1781, etc. But I am trying to research the 38 year gap between 1741 and 1779. I have been looking through records at frontier forts, voyageur contracts in Michigan and others, but so far without any luck. My assumption is the gap includes the 7 year war, so he may have been engaged in military or naval service. Or involved in the fur trade somewhere.

Any advice on places to search outside the traditional Quebec church records, or notarial records from PARCHEMIN?
