Hill, Kenneth John - July 21, 1922 - September 8, 2017 It is with much sadness that the family of Kenneth (Ken) Hill, of Calgary, announces his passing on September 8, 2017 at the age of 95 years. Ken was born in Stoughton, Sask. He was predeceased by his wife Jane in 1996 and infant son Melvin in 1948. He was also predeceased by four brothers (Clifford, Bill, Norman and Gordon) and two sisters (Beulah Fraser and Beatrice Henry). Ken is survived by one son Gordon (Charlotte) Hill of Red Deer, three daughters, Jeanette Chretien of Nanaimo, B. C., Margaret (Rick) Crawford of Osoyoos, B. C., and Maureen Hill of Calgary, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one brother Don of Regina, and many nephews and nieces. In 1940 he enlisted in the Allied Forces and served overseas in Italy, Holland, Belgium and England during WWII. He married Jane Henson in London, England in 1943. He served 27 years in the Armed Forces and earned the rank of Master Warrant Officer. Ken had a sharp mind and a witty sense of humour. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, which he cared for very deeply. He was an avid gardener and was a skilled handyman. After retiring from the army, Ken qualified for his electrical certificate in Saskatchewan and worked independently as an electrician. In 1981 Ken and Jane retired to Calgary. Many thanks to the nursing staff in Unit 62 at the Foothills Hospital, Dr. Van Dyke and Palliative Care. Also many thanks to the staff at the Dulcina Hospice.
