Sterzik, Hannelore Renate Our beloved mother and grandmother, Mrs. Hannelore (Hanna) Sterzik (nee Tschampel) of Edmonton, Alberta died peacefully in St. Joseph's Hospital on Monday, May 1, 2017 at the age of 76. Hannelore was born to parents Gustav and Olga Tschampel in Wilhelmsort, Germany on September 26, 1940. She grew up as the eldest of two daughters and was educated as a professional midwife in Czechoslovakia. In 1960 she married her high school sweetheart Lothar Sterzik. They emigrated to Germany and then finally settled in Edmonton in 1966. Besides raising two children, Hanna had a varied career, including secretary to the Alberta Ombudsman, dental assistant, business administrator, registered massage therapist and registered nurse. Her particular passions were for the medical profession and gardening. She also enjoyed camping, walking in the woods, gathering wild blueberries and film photography. She was a great friend to the local bird population with her enthusiastic feeding initiatives. She was a kind-hearted person who cared much more for the welfare of others than for her own. Hanna was also an active Jehovah's Witness for nearly 60 years, had a strong love for and faith in God, and looked forward to Jehovah's promise of everlasting life in His beautiful paradise on Earth. Hannelore is survived by her children Robert (Erika) and Gerald, sister Gudrun, niece Olynka, nephews Michael, Peter and Paul, and grandchildren Nathaniel and Melanie. A memorial service is being held at 2:00 pm June 17, 2017 at the Kingdom Hall at 11030-19 Ave NW. The family is grateful for the condolences, but declines flowers. The Edmonton Sun, AB, 2017-06-11
