Gina was born in California on September 26, 1942 and graduated from San Francisco State College with a degree in Anthropology in 1968. Soon after, she moved to Canada. In 1975, she obtained a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School. She practiced law in Vancouver for sixteen years, where she was respected counsel in the field of family law and civil litigation. In 1992, Gina moved her law practice to Saltspring Island. In 1995, she was appointed as a judge to the Supreme Court of British Columbia in Victoria.
