The Leader Post, Regina, SK

Wickenheiser, Charles June 9, 1927 - March 21, 2018 Charlie passed away peacefully at Riverbend Memory Crossing, Regina, SK on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the age of 90 years. He was predeceased by his wife Fran; son Doug; parents, Peter and Stephanie; five brothers and six sisters. Charlie will be missed by his children, Marcia, Claude, Cal, and Kurt; daughters-in-law, Donna and Dianne; grandchildren, Chris (Heather), Riley (Rochelle), Kayla, Rachel, Kaitlin, and Carly; four great-grandchildren; Johanna; and sisters, Edith and Ursula. Dad was born on the family farm in Vibank, SK. His heart wasn't in farming, so he moved to Regina, where he began a career in construction. It wasn't long before Dad started working for himself, building apartment buildings and warehouses. All who knew Dad, knew how passionate he was about sports, in particular hockey. He held season's tickets for many years for the Regina Pat's and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverbend Memory Crossing for the great care Dad was given during the last three and a half years, the resident aides in Lancaster, who took care of all his daily needs, Eleanor, Stephanie, and Tracy. At Charlie's request, cremation will take place and he will be laid to rest with his wife Fran and his best friend and brother Bert, at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. A private family interment and celebration of life will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Charlie may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 301-2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1.
