Alan Willard Reese February 26, 1956 - June 3, 2019 Reese, Dr. Alan Willard February 26, 1956 - June 3, 2019 It is with respect, honour, and love that we release Alan to his Lord and Saviour. Alan gracefully 'danced ' with terminal cancer for the past four years, living his life with the same intentionality, curiosity, meaning, and deep love for his family and friends that has always been central to his mind and heart. Alan has touched our lives in unique and unforgettable ways through his words, teachings, actions, and unwavering faith. Alan passed away peacefully at age 63 in the company of his loving wife, Trudy, while receiving palliative care at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon. His family will never forget the amazing healthcare professionals who became true friends and companions at such a difficult time. To mourn and celebrate him, Alan leaves behind his loving family: his wife (Trudy), sons Brendan (Tricia Frey) and Gregory, and daughter Miriam (Angel Misevski). He also leaves behind his beloved mother, Barbara, sister Margaret (Drew Lamont), and brothers Larry (Tanya Ryga) and Jeffrey (Eva Moravcik), as well as four brothers-in-law and their wives and families. Alan was predeceased by his father, Willard Reese, his parents-in-law, Menze and Wilma Rozema, his sister-in-law Ella, and his niece, Jeanne. Alan loved learning and teaching, continuing these activities in earnest until the day he passed. After attaining multiple advanced degrees, Alan became a history professor at St. Thomas More College, where he enjoyed a meaningful career and developed life-long friendships. A celebration of Alan's life will occur at Nutana Park Mennonite Church on Monday, June 10 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Close to Home Campaign for Saskatoon's first hospice or a charity of your choice would be welcomed. Published on June 6, 2019 in The Star Phoenix, Saskatoon, SK
