The Drouin Institute has worked with genealogy and historical societies for many years to support the sharing, preservation and accessibility of genealogical data. These partnerships have helped bring together databases, digitized images and genealogical records useful for family history research in Quebec.
Collaboration between organizations also helps expand the resources available to researchers and genealogists. Over the years, several agreements have been established with Quebec genealogy societies to facilitate access to different collections and databases. The sections below present the principal collaborations in which the Drouin Institute participates and the genealogical material shared through these partnerships.
Collaboration with the Société de généalogie des Cantons de l'Est
We thank the Société de généalogie des Cantons de l'Est (SGCE) for this partnership, which allows Institute members to access this database and, in return, SGCE members to access the Genealogy Quebec website.
Collaboration with the Société de généalogie de Québec and the Société généalogique canadienne-française
- Bilateral agreement between the Institute and the SGCF dated April 23, 2008: digitized images of marriage forms from 1926 to 1996 originating from microfilm.
- Tripartite agreement between the Institute, the SGCF and the SGQ dated June 1, 2009: shared use of marriage forms from 1926 to 1996.
- Bilateral agreement between the Institute and the SGQ dated May 7, 2009: shared use of the deaths database covering 1926 to 1996.
BMD data-sharing collaborations
These data exchanges help bring together information from different regions of Quebec and make it easier to access for people researching their ancestors and family history. Collaborations with genealogy societies therefore complement the collections and research tools offered through Genealogy Quebec while supporting the continued preservation and circulation of useful genealogical records.
