Drouin Institute’s Family Genealogies

Two resources for exploring Quebec family history

The Drouin Institute Family Genealogies provide access to two complementary resources documenting the history of Quebec families. Researchers can browse family genealogies produced by Joseph Drouin and search the marriages indexed from these publications. Together, these resources can help reconstruct a family line, confirm a marriage and uncover additional information about several generations of the same family.

The first resource presents the family genealogies located by the Drouin Institute and produced by Joseph Drouin between 1913 and 1937. These publications trace individual families by bringing together genealogical information available when the volumes were created. They are now valuable historical resources for studying family relationships, surnames and the development of Quebec families over time.

More than 8,000 pages of indexed marriages

The second resource is a searchable database of marriages found in Joseph Drouin’s family genealogies. More than 8,000 pages of marriage entries have been indexed, making it easier to locate an individual, a couple or a family without browsing every volume page by page.

Marriage records are especially useful in family history research because they can connect two family lines, confirm the names of spouses and provide clues leading to earlier generations. Select the resource that best matches your research goal using the two access cards at the top of the page.
