About the Wales surname
The surname Wales may have undergone spelling adaptations as it was transmitted, but its exact origin is not asserted here without surname-specific onomastic support. The canonical form used here is “Wales”; phonetic or spelling differences found in indexes should be checked against the other information in the record.
